TUITION, FEES & CHARGES
Effective with the Fall 2005 Semester, the following tuition, fees, and charges have been adopted by the board of Trustees of Community College District No. 508. This tuition, fee, and charge schedule is subject to change at any time by the board of Trustees.
All tuition, fees, and charges are payable at the time of registration. Payment may be made in cash, or by check or money order payable to the college of registration. All fees are payable to the Humboldt Park Vocational Education Center (H.P.V.E.C.) in cash, personal checks, or money orders at the time of registration.
There will be a $25.00 fee for a check returned for Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) or a stop-payment check. Any student who has once given the City Colleges of
Chicago
either a NSF or stop-payment check, will not be allowed to make any subsequent payment by check at any of the City Colleges of
Chicago

Tuition
Chicago
residents: Effective summer 2006 $72.00 per credit hour.
Residents of
illinois
: $108.33 for each credit hour per semester or term in addition to the tuition paid by
Chicago
residents.
Non-residents of
illinois
: $219.6for each credit hour per semester or term in addition to the tuition paid by
Chicago
residents.
RESIDENCY STATUS
Students who live within the boundaries of the city of
Chicago
pay lower fees than residents of
Illinois
outside
Chicago
, given that H.P.V.E.C. is a publicly supported institution. Therefore, students are required to submit proof of residency at the time of registration (driver's license, voter registration card, tax forms and utility bills). In addition, the institution may require an affidavit from the student, or his parent or guardian in case of a minor. There are three categories of residency that will determine which fee rate applies to a particular student:
1. Chicago residents: adults or emancipated minors who live in
Chicago
and minors whose parents or legal guardians live in
Chicago
.
2. Residents of
Illinois
outside
Chicago
: applies to students residing outside Chicago and non-emancipated minors whose parents or guardians live outside
Chicago
but within
Illinois
.
3. Non-Residents of
Illinois
: applies to students who do not reside in the State of
Illinois
and all foreign students whether holding diplomatic, student, visitor, or other non-immigrant visas.
Refunds and Withdrawals
Administrative withdrawal
1. If the administration cancels a class, all tuition and fees, including non-resident tuition, paid by students for that class, shall be fully refunded.
2. A student does not show (NSW) for a class and does not withdraw officially from the class, and is therefore marked NSW at the beginning of a semester, no refund will be issued, except as required by law.
Student-initiated
3. A student registers and withdraws formally from the College prior to the first day of class, all tuition and non-resident tuition and fees shall be refunded in full, except for the $25 non-refundable registration fee.
4. A student withdraws formally from a 6- week class within the first 8 days of the class (including weekends and holidays), 80% of applicable tuition shall be refunded.
5. A student withdraws formally from a class after the first 8 days of the semester, no refund will be made.
6. An 80% refund will be given during day and day 2 of the semester. No refund will be given from day 3 through the end of the semester.
Please allow four to six weeks from the start of the semester to receive your refund.
