Student Academic Success Center-Gateway to the College

New & Transfer Student Admission

and Registration Checklist

If you are planning to utilize financial aid to pay for your classes, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible. Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov. This process should be fully completed by the time you reach step 6. You are encouraged to act on this immediately. If your financial aid file is not complete by the time of registration, you must be prepared to pay.    All students utilizing financial aid are required to provide a final high school transcript or GED certificate to the Student Academic Success Center, Room A120, prior to enrollment. If you are not a high school graduate or GED recipient, this does not apply to you; however, you may still demonstrate financial aid eligibility by taking the Ability to Benefit Test.

Step 1
Submit your admission application or apply online.

Step 2
Submit a final official transcript from high school or a GED Certificate.  If you are not a high school graduate or GED recipient, this does not apply to you.

If you are transfer student seeking a degree, submit official transcript(s) from all colleges/universities previously attended to the Student Academic Success Center, Room A120 and request an Official evaluation. Your admissions file is not complete without these documents.
Please note that unofficial transcripts or grade reports may be used for advising purposes

Step 3
All new students are required to take a placement test in Rm. L131.

Transfer students may be required to take a placement test. If you already possess an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited institution, placement tests may or may not be required contingent upon course prerequisites. Here is the Placement Test schedule. Website study guide:
www.act.org/compass .

Step 4
Attend the New Student Orientation. The New Student Orientation is mandatory for full-time students (12 credit hours or more in the fall and spring terms; 6 credit hours or more in the summer), and highly recommended for part-time students. To reserve a seat, call 773/481-8200 or stop by Rm. A-120, or send an email to wn_e-advising@ccc.edu.

Step 5
Meet with a college advisor and register for classes in Rm. A120. College advisors are available on a walk-in basis or by appointment. For an appointment, call (773)481-8200.

You must provide proof of residency in the city of Chicago to receive in-district tuition rates every semester. Documents accepted: driver’s license, state ID card, voter registration card, and consular ID. Under extenuating circumstances, other forms of official identification may be accepted.

Step 6
Pay for your classes.  Payment is required at the time of registration.  The
Partial Payment Option is available during the Early Registration period for the fall and spring semesters.  The Partial Payment Option is not available for the summer term.

Step 7

www.efollett.com. Note:  The U-Pass is now available for full time students.
