Mission
The
Foreign Language's Mission is to meet the transfer expectations
of the Illinois Articulation Initiative, to provide a basic understanding
and sensitivity to the diverseness and richness of cultures, to
reflect the heritage of our students, and to introduce students
to other languages.
General Education Outcomes
- Think
and read critically so that the students can solve problems using
appropriate information resources and reasoning processes.
- Read,
write, speak, and listen effectively so that the expectations
of appropriate audiences in the academic, public, and private
sectors are met.
- Demonstrate
quantitative and technological literacy, especially computer literacy,
for interpreting data, reasoning, and problem solving.
- Understanding
and appreciate diversity in gender, race, age, class, and culture
as well as differences in physical abilities in a global society.
- Understand
and develop ethical values, life goals, and interpersonal skills
that will prepare the students for life-long learning, employability,
and effective citizenship.
