The
Environmental Technology facility located at the Wright College north
campus has classrooms and laboratories that are modern and fully
equipped with the appropriate tools, instruments and supplies for air
monitoring, testing, emergency preparedness and protective gear. The
computer lab with Internet access teaches students how to find
information from public sources such as the EPA and OSHA regarding
policy and regulations.
We incorporate
hands-on-training experiences in all of our classes. Simulations are
used to illustrate the situations that may develop at a factory,
facility or various job sites. For example, barrel and container spills
and leaks are reenacted so students can learn proper response
techniques including stopping the leak, cleaning up the debris and
disposing of the waste.
Our dedicated chemistry lab is used to demonstrate
the principles of environmental hazards including corrosively,
reactivity, toxicity and flammability. All are done in a lab with the
necessary safety equipment including eyewashes, showers and non
reactive surfaces. |
