Program Admission

Wright College does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, handicap, age, sex, sexual orientation or marital status in admission to and participation in its educational programs.

Please read the following information about our application process. It will answer a number of questions for you, and will clarify the methods used for accepting students into the program.

Application Procedures and Application Deadline

The first step is to download our Information Packet. It explains the requirements, the complete application procedure and includes an application. You can download a copy if you CLICK HERE. The deadline for applying is February 1.

Send all official college transcripts to the Radiography Program office, L281. Do not send them to the college’s Admissions and Records Office. Only after transcripts have been reviewed for the application process, will they be forwarded to that office. The program must have official transcripts for all college coursework that is to be considered, including formal evaluation of any transcripts from foreign colleges and universities. If you have college transcripts from Wright, or one of the other City Colleges of Chicago, and they are less than ten years old, you do not have to send an official set, we can access those from our records system.

Application decisions are based on academic performance in required program coursework and the number of required general education courses completed by the application deadline. A point system is employed to evaluate each applicant’s materials. We also consider Chicago residency. In case of ties, the admissions committee looks at the date the application was received. If there are more qualified applicants than space available, applicants will be taken from a waiting list as space becomes available. Candidates who are on the waiting list are not automatically guaranteed program admission for the following year.

Pre-requisites for Consideration

Just to be eligible for consideration you must satisfactorily complete each course below with a minimum grade of C. However if you only have these courses completed, you will not have a very good chance of being accepted.

  • English 101
  • Math 140
  • Biology 120

Increasing Your Chances for Acceptance

The Wright College Catalog states, “If more candidates apply than the program can accept, the best qualified applicants will be admitted.”

When we review your application and transcripts, we will look at how many of the following courses you have completed. Those students who have taken and completed all of the following required general education courses with a grade of “C” or better will be given preference for admission.

  • Math 140
  • Biology 120
  • English 101
  • Biology 226 and 227
  • Computer Information Systems 120
  • Psychology 201

Therefore, you will have a better chance for acceptance if you satisfactorily complete these courses rather than just being eligible for them. The more of these courses you can complete and the better your grades, the greater will be your chance of being admitted to the program.
