Staffed with 1,100 top pediatric specialists, award-winning nurses and Illinois’ only freestanding hospital exclusively for kids, they offer the newest technologies, provide kid-focused experiences and dedicate themselves to the health and well-being of all children. Licensed for 270 beds, Children’s cares for the most critically ill kids and is one of the country’s top five children’s hospitals.
The physicians at Illinois Bone and Joint Institute (IBJI for short) specialize in the diagnosis, treatment and management of injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Areas of treatment include orthopedic surgery, rheumatology, podiatry, pain management and orthopedic oncology. IBJI maintains over 20 practice sites conveniently located and extending from Michigan Ave. in Chicago to Gurnee, IL.
Loyola is a private, Jesuit Catholic provider located on 61 acres in Maywood, IL. Providing skilled, compassionate care for over 35 years, Loyola is recognized as a leader in conducting groundbreaking research in the treatment of heart disease, cancer, organ transplantation and neurological disorders. It is a tertiary-care, 589 licensed bed facility that includes a Level I Trauma and Burn Center, the Ronald McDonald Children’s Hospital which houses a 50-bed Neonatal ICU, 16-bed Pediatric ICU and 34-bed general pediatric unit.
As the city’s first chartered hospital, Mercy is a Catholic teaching hospital that provides the area with the most advanced medicine. A 517-bed institution with innovations in patient care, teaching and research has earned Mercy a top slot among Chicago’s leading hospitals. Their specialized team is recognized for excellence, pioneering many leading-edge procedures available today.
Located in Chicago’s northern suburbs, NorthShore University HealthSystem is an academic health system affiliated with the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. NorthShore demonstrates leadership in cancer and cardiac care, providing specialized cancer services at The Kellogg Cancer Care Center. They provide comprehensive heart care at the Cardiovascular Care Center and also serve as a Level I Trauma Center.
The center is committed to the advancements in the field of osteoporosis, patient education and all matters related to bone health. Serving the North Shore of Chicago since 1996, the staff includes Dr. Michael DiMuzio, Director of the center, whose goal is to maintain the highest level of customer satisfaction for all individuals involved in maintaining and monitoring their bone health status.
Northwestern Memorial is a nationally recognized academic medical center as well as a major referral center with more that 1,400 physicians representing virtually every clinical specialty. It has been the most preferred hospital in Chicago for nine years running, has been consistently ranked among the nations “Best Hospitals” as ranked by U.S. News & World Report and named to the Working Mothers magazine’s list of “100 Best Companies for Working Mothers.” Patient accommodations include 897 licensed beds between Northwestern Memorial, Prentice Women’s Hospital and the Stone Institute of Psychiatry.
This academic medical center encompasses a 613-bed hospital and has been leading the way in developing innovative and often life-saving treatments for nearly 170 years. The unique combination of research and patient care has earned Rush national rankings in 11 specialty areas as reported in U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Hospitals” issue. Rush is home to one of the first medical colleges in the Midwest and one of the nation’s top-ranked nursing colleges as well as graduate programs in allied health, health systems management and biomedical research.
Shriners is a network of 22 pediatric hospitals in the U.S., Canada and Mexico providing specialized care for orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries and cleft lip and palate. All services are rendered at no charge. Shriners has been providing state-of-the-art care for more than 80 years. All children, from birth to 18 years of age may be eligible for care at Shriners hospital.
Swedish Covenant is a comprehensive healthcare facility that serves the communities of Chicago’s North and Northwest sides. As one of the few independent, nonprofit hospitals in the area, the focus is to provide compassionate care in a healing environment while treating the whole patient—body, mind and spirit. Swedish Covenant was established more than 120 years ago and is Chicago’s only member of Planetree Organization.
Since its establishment in 1913, the UIC College of Medicine and the University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago have been providing superior health care, innovative medical research and expertly trained physicians to the people of Illinois, the United States and the world. Situated on Chicago’s Near West Side, it is part of the largest health science center in the county. It is comprised of the colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Public Health and Applied Health Sciences. The University includes a 507-bed hospital, more than 600 primary care physicians who work closely with UIC’s scientists and over 40 primary and specialty outpatient clinics.
